Transfer of Credit

To ensure you have the knowledge and skills to prepare you for BIBM788 Professional Project, a transfer of credit (TOC) will not normally be considered for this programme. In exceptional circumstances any TOC’s will be at the discretion of the CBITE Programme Committee and will not exceed 25% of the programme. Any such consideration for TOC’s should be made no later than two weeks before the start of this programme to allow for your individual programme of study to take any TOC’s granted into account.

For more information on transfer of credit click here.

Professional (Co-op Education) Project

A major feature of the Graduate Diploma in Retail Management is the Professional Project – a 30 credit module that is your last piece of academic work. The purpose of this module is to provide you with the opportunity to understand the complexities of a working environment and to put the theory you have learnt in the classroom into practice. The Professional Project comprises two parts – a work placement and a research project. The work placement is unpaid and can be in any area of business. We encourage you to find your own placement and will consider your paid employment as part of your placement. The research project will focus on real industry research.

Students must have a B+ average to qualify for the opportunity to complete their research project in industry.

Pathways

Transfer of Credit

Do you excel in your job but have no qualification to back it up? We can help you get qualified through our Recognition of Prior (RPL) Learning Tool.

While many people have gained work and life experience equivalent to that of formal study, they don't have that formal qualification to substantiate it. RPL allows you to use your current knowledge and experience towards gaining a recognised qualification through Informal Transfer of Credit.

The Process

If you are interested in applying, you can do so by emailing your profile through to: headstart@wintec.ac.nz.

There are four main areas you need to cover in your profile:
  1. Education History
  2. Experience Information
  3. Work experience Info
  4. Other evidence

Your profile will be forwarded to the relevant Team Manager to look at and determine if you may be eligible for recognition of prior learning. Once this has been determined, a consultation meeting will be arranged between yourself and the Team Manager. There is a $75 fee for this consultation. At the consultation, the Team Manager will discuss which modules they believe you have the experience to gain Informal Transfer of Credit for and also what documentation you will need to supply.

You will then need to put together the required documentation and send it through to us. The Team Manager will assess the documentation and advise if what has been supplied is sufficient. If sufficient information is provided to gain Informal Transfer of Credit, there will be a charge of $25 per credit which will need to be paid prior to any Informal Transfer of Credit being issued.
