Bachelor of Midwifery
By the time she finished her midwifery course, Zulema Aguilera had caught over 60 babies and facilitated around 65 births. She never knew what the next day was going to bring and the combination of the constant excitement and the hands-on learning has meant she has transferred out of the classroom and into the workplace with ease.
“I’m living my dream, helping to bring life into the world,” she says. “If I can do it, I believe that anyone can do it. It’s all about passion and self-determination.”
Zulema is now working in South Auckland as a self-employed midwife.
“It’s not just a qualification that you walk out with from Wintec. With midwifery you walk out with a job.”
