About
Originally from the USA, I moved to New Zealand at the beginning of 2020. I am a CVT and have worked mainly in emergency medicine. I am looking forward to the opportunity in teaching future veterinary nurses. Outside of the veterinary field, I love to read, travel, and teach Zumba. I have a German Shepherd and two cats that keep me on my toes.

What do you enjoy about teaching/your job?
I love being able to pass on tips and tricks that will be useful to students in the field. As an industry professional, I love hands-on learning and want to make the most of this for students to gain knowledge. My students are important to me, but so are my patients. There is nothing as satisfying as helping an animal recover from a crisis to be able to go home to their family, healthy and happy.
What do you love about your area?
I love being able to converse with other knowledgeable tutors in animal technology. Sharing information, stories, and learning is so encouraging!
Tell us about your experience in the industry
I worked as a veterinary technician for six years, mainly in emergency and critical care. I have a great interest in critical care specialities and neonates. I used to work in the ICU and took care of very complicated cases closely with specialists, which could be exhilarating and exhausting sometimes. I have also worked in general practice with a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon, where I learned a great amount about surgery and new orthopaedic techniques. I am constantly looking into new learning opportunities and love the advances that are being made to improve the lives of our pets.
