Studying for free at Wintec

You could be eligible for fees-free study under the Government’s education policy. You can check your eligibility by visiting feesfree.govt.nz and using your National Student Number (NSN).

There is no age limit for the fees-free policy, but it is designed for students new to tertiary study. If you have already studied full-time for six months or more, your fees won’t be covered by the scheme.

A fees-free year contributes 120 credits towards a qualification covered by the initiative. Whether you choose to study a certificate qualification or take your first steps into a multi-year degree, you will be able to get your journey started.

In addition to the Government scheme, Wintec offers several fees-free programmes. There are also additional programmes such as Māori and Pasifika Trades Training (MPTT) and Youth Guarantee that offer free study to eligible students. Find out more below.
