Michelle began her hairdressing career in Gisborne before she transferred to Hamilton, where she completed her qualification. During her employment, she was employed by Partners/Patricks, then took up a tutoring position at The Hairdressing Academy before moving to Hillcrest Hair Design. After discovering that hairdressing education was her passion, she proceeded to achieve qualifications to become an industry assessor, then carried on to be employed by the HITO. Michelle also went on to work for Rodney Wayne in Hamilton as an educator. An opportunity then followed with her taking on her dream job as a Hairdressing Tutor at Wintec Hamilton.
