Te Rau Ora – Scholarships
Background
The Te Rau Ora Scholarships aim is to provide both Māori and non-Māori people with an opportunity to acquire undergraduate or postgraduate qualifications to work in the addiction treatment sector and to provide an opportunity to those with lived experience of mental distress and/or addiction to study a field of their choice including but not limited to health or in academic, cultural, or creative pathways.
These scholarships are for people keen on working in the addiction treatment sector or already working in the addiction treatment sector and interested in completing an undergraduate or postgraduate qualification.
Eligibility
The scholarships are available to:
- Māori and non-Māori who are interested in a career within the addiction treatment system;
- those who are already working in the system who wish to undertake a relevant course of study;
- those who might be working in an allied system but wanting to further their understanding; and knowledge of working with people who experience addiction-related harm.
Priority will be given to:
- Addiction practitioners of Māori and or Pasifika descent;
- those working in kaupapa ake services;
- those practitioners working with youth;
- youth; and
- those with lived experience thinking of a career in the addiction treatment system.
