What do you enjoy about teaching/your job?
I enjoy
working with students, introducing new ideas, and then seeing those ideas
emerge in their work. It is exciting to see them make these connections.
What do you love about your area?
Contemporary
art is a diverse field with a long history that is full of contradictions. I
get to demystify the art world a bit and help students find their way into it.
I am privileged to do this every day, working with learners from certificate
level through to postgraduate supervision.
Tell us about your experience in the industry
I have
exhibition experience in China, Germany, and New Zealand. In 2020, I returned
to New Zealand after five years in China and began teaching at Wintec.
Alongside my teaching, I maintain an active painting and illustration practice
that intersects with my research.
What keeps you busy outside of Media Arts?
I enjoy spending time with my family, cooking and eating, as well as larping as a musician on Wednesday nights with the local brass band.
