Manaaki Financial Support Grant

The Manaaki Financial Support Grant is here to help you when you are experiencing unexpected or exceptional hardship. This Grant can assist with small, one-off contributions towards a financial hardship. Each application is assessed by a committee team based on the individual details provided on the application.

How to apply

Click the Grant Application Form button and fill out the online form. Please make sure you give as much detail as possible about your financial situation. This includes:
  • How you are experiencing hardship that is unexpected or exceptional
  • A brief budget and details of your income source/s
  • What you need help with and how much you need
  • Any quotes, copies of invoices or documents that will support your application
  • Your bank account details, including a copy of your bank statement, making sure to include the bank’s logo, your account’s full name and your account number

2024 opening date: The Manaaki Financial Support Grant will open on Monday 29 January 2024. 

The grant cannot assist with:
  • Course-related costs, including fees
  • Fines and loan repayments
  • Bond and associated costs such as letting fees and rent in advance
  • Recreational memberships
  • Ongoing financial support
  • Costs incurred prior to studying here

Grant and committee dates

The Grant committee meets every Monday and Thursday morning to assess applications. If you are approved for a grant and we have all the information we need, a payment will usually be made the next working day.

Please note: Grant dates are subject to change and may be impacted by events such as Public Holidays and campus closures.
