About

Kia ora everyone, and welcome to Wintec!

I am an Academic Learning Advisor in Student Learning Services (SLS). SLS is part of the Student Experience team. We exist to make your experience at Wintec as good as it can be!

My main motivation in life is to help people, so my job is very fulfilling as I can do that every single day. When I’m not at work, I’m busy looking after the three guys in my life, including my two teenage sons. At weekends, I’m a ‘soccer mum’ and a laundry expert. If I have any free time, I love curling up with a good book, visiting family, and catching up with friends for coffee.

In SLS, we can help with the academic side of your life at Wintec. You may see Learning Advisors in your classes, sessions out of class, or in the SLS office in the hub. There is lots of support available to you which you’ll find out about at induction or on the SLS website here. You may need help with study skills like time management or note taking, how to write at an academic level or how to incorporate information you have researched into your assignment. Feel free to ask us anything academic. If we aren’t the right people to answer your question, we’ll let you know who is.

I do a lot of work in the areas of business and nursing but also see any Wintec students. My background is in teaching English as an Additional Language (EAL), so I often give advice to international and domestic EAL students on English language development once they are in the mainstream. If you are a Kiwi and you want to improve your English, I can help you, too! I look forward to working with many of you this semester. Very best wishes for your time here at Wintec.
