  • Māori culture meets IT to tell waka story

    A Wintec music student is working with traditional Māori music specialist Horomona Horo to create compositions where contemporary expression of taonga puoro (traditional Māori music) will become part of an app for the Matariki Interactive Waka Sculpture Project.

  • New exhibition celebrates Matariki themes at Wintec

    This year a Wintec student exhibition will celebrate Matariki from Wednesday 13 - 20 June. The students have created video, graphic design and garments inspired by the cultural traditions of Matariki.

    Tokoroa’s young people came together last week to share their ideas on how to solve some of their town’s social problems with help from Wintec, local councils and South Waikato YMCA.

  • Blink - don’t miss it

    Hidden away in a former dairy factory in Matangi, a group of passionate film-makers, are working on Blink, a short film by writer-director Paige Larianova and producer Chris Williams. They are part of Hamilton’s vibrant film community and many of the crew, including the producer and director are Wintec staff, alumni and students.

  • Connections made at local Hamilton gallery, Weasel

    The group exhibition No Holiday at Weasel Gallery pushes the boundaries of traditional painting. The three artists; Chelsea Pascoe, Nicholas Megchelse and Rachel Hope Peary are all past and present students of Wintec’s School of Media Arts.
