Vision Complete Earthworks Annual Cocktail Party
VCE is a family owned and operated business based in the Waikato. Their annual cocktail party is a night where they thank their clients, staff, and families. This special night has grown over the years and this year it was attended by over 250 guests.
VCE came to us with a clear mandate - design an evening where people will have fun and connect with each other.
We worked in conjunction with The Event Company and Kerr & Ladbrook to create an event proposal - we were so excited when the client trusted our vision completely and told us to go for it!
On the night, guests were able to enjoy casino tables, an LED dancefloor, a DJ, pyrotechnics, magicians, a contortionist, stilt walkers, mirror people, a photo booth, cocktails down a specially made ice luge, and incredible food!
Some of the highlights of this event for us were: getting to see the looks on the faces of everyone as they walked in the door, the incredible indoor fireworks put on by DJ Scott Sound, and getting to experience a night where every person in the room was made to feel appreciated, valued and special by the people throwing the event. It was a night that we will never forget!
Wintec Honorary Degree Ceremony 2019
In June 2019 we had the privilege of hosting a very special event for two exceptional Waikato men - Dallas Fisher and Sir James Wallace. Both men were conferred with honorary degrees - Dallas Fisher, Master of Applied Innovation honorary degree, and Sir James Wallace, Master of Arts honorary degree.
We wanted both of our honorary recipients to be represented in various elements of this event, so we enlisted the help of Montana catering to create a special three course plated menu for their director Dallas Fisher. It was designed to represent where he grew up and his journey with food. It blew everybody’s socks off! Appearances were made by an amuse bouche of Kina custard and karengo crumb, Horopito smoked lamb, Hangi cooked beef shortrib, and a gorgeous kumara steamed pudding with manuka hokey pokey.
Sir James’s presence was felt and celebrated with some very special art pieces lent to us by the Wallace collection for the evening. As we wanted the art to really shine, we kept the room setup clean and elegant with the help of the Event Company - crystal candlesticks, chandeliers, and warm lighting let the art and the Atrium shine. The evening was topped off with stunning classical music from the Amoroso String Trio.
David Sidwell Honorary Medal Event
The name David Sidwell will be recognisable to many people in the Waikato region and no wonder, the performing arts maestro and manager at Wintec’s School of Media Arts has been a prominent
force across music and theatre for the last 40 years. It will surprise no-one that his achievements were formally recognised with the bestowment of an Institutional Medal on Tuesday 13th August 2019.
In order to ensure that this special evening was a true reflection of David and his enormous contribution to the Arts, the Atrium was transformed into a fabulous jazz lounge, complete with moody lighting, gorgeous theatre draping, red carpets, and intimate seating.
For this event we teamed up with Kerr and Ladbrook, who provided a signature cocktail for the evening - 'The Sidwell', as well as stunning Spanish style tapas and sharing plates. We also worked with the Hamilton Beer and Wine Company to source some gorgeous Spanish wines; ACLX to create the incredible staging, lighting and sound setup; and The Event Company and Phoenix Decoration Hire to help us bring our vision of the Atrium Jazz Lounge to life!
Of course a jazz lounge is nothing without music - and this event did not disappoint. Guests were treated to performances by Casey Messent (Gordon Chesterman Scholarship 2019 recipient), Alexandra Wiltshire, Pamela Wallace, Yotam Levy, Scot Hall and David on piano. Guests also heard a snippet from the new musical Mum’s Kitchen written by David and Wintec tutors Jeremy Mayall and Nick Braae.

I have been lucky enough to call the Waikato Home since 2011, but my Central Otago homeland still has a little piece of my heart.
I have been working in event and venue management for over 20 years and I love talking shop about any tiny aspect of your event … truly, I love this stuff!
My specialist Mastermind topics would be basketball from the late 80s early 90s, and Batman or James Bond films (love George Lazenby’s 007 but we don’t talk about George Clooney and his Bat nipples). When not at work you can find me walking our westie Rosie with my wife and two girls, coaching their basketball, or being at one with my thoughts on my mountain bike or paddleboard.

I have recently joined the events team at Wintec and am loving every minute of it! My background includes customer service and wedding coordinator roles - both of which I loved! I am passionate about exceptional customer service and my goal is that all of our clients have the best experience possible when they book an event with us. I love the fast paced, high pressure environment that working in events brings - you never know what each day is going to bring.
Outside of work I love to spending time with my husband and our zoo (Stanley the English bulldog, Garfield the Persian, and Macaroni the rabbit). I also love to spend time with my very large Croatian family, eat good food and drink great wine, go to the beach, and try and squeeze the gym in there somewhere as well!
Audio Visual and Events Technician

I love the ever-changing and innovative work environment here at Wintec Venues, with a background in audio engineering and music composition. I really enjoy the creative aspects of my role. I am passionate about people and ensuring that our clients receive both technical and customer service of the highest quality. I enjoy creating with lighting and audio and the way they can transform and influence a space. I look forward to working with you to help plan, design and execute the visuals and audio for your next event.
Outside of work, I enjoy making music and skating with my friends.

I’ve had the privilege of working part time in the venues team since 2012. I love the fact that there tends to be no two days the same, the flexibility my role offers, and the passion my fellow colleagues demonstrate when putting awesome events together and seeing the end result.
I grew up in Hamilton and live on three acres with my husband, two children, an extremely boisterous English Staffy, a cat, and a couple of steers in the paddock. Outside of work I am a strong supporter of my children’s sporting and school activities (taxi driver), I enjoy gardening as a stress reliever and love a glass of Pinot Noir to wind down my day.

I began working at Wintec in 2004 in a similar role, and then was fortunate enough to join the venues team in 2011. Since then there has been a variety of clients through The Training Space and we especially appreciate our longstanding clients.
I have been living in Hamilton for 24 years, have two adult children, two cats (Phil & Lil), and an elderly cocker spaniel. I enjoy going to live theatre and the movies, following our Magic netball team, doing the odd gym session and some of the lighter walks around the Waikato area.
