What is it?
Isokinetic assessment involves specialised equipment and is used to measure the dynamic function of isolated muscle groups with respect to angular velocity, joint position, joint range of motion, and muscle contraction type. Wintec is the only facility in the Waikato that has a Kin Com isokinetic dynamometer for such assessments.
How is it useful?
This type of assessment is commonly used internationally for muscular function screening and rehabilitation purposes. Specifically, test outcomes can identify muscular weaknesses / strengths and show specific muscular limitations in movements that might be contributing to any pain experienced. This information can then be used by a trainer or therapist to prescribe appropriate training to maximise your movement efficiency or return you to a pre-injury state.

Landing Assessment

What is it?
Landing assessment involves the use of specialised equipment such as a force platform and high speed video footage to analyse the loading forces and body position during sport relevant landing situations. Wintec is the only facility in the Waikato that has a Kistler force platform for such assessments.
How is it useful?
Repetitive high loading forces experienced during landing in activities such as netball, basketball or volleyball can predispose an individual to injury occurrence. Specifically, test outcomes can identify movement limitations that may lead to injury. This information can then be used by a trainer or therapist to prescribe appropriate training to maximise your movement efficiency.
