Wintec ready to welcome future learners at Open Day 2025

Wintec is gearing up to host hundreds of prospective ākonga (students) and their whānau (families) at Ngā Rā Tūwhera | Wintec Open Day 2025, next week.

Taking place on Friday, 29 August, from 9am to 1pm, across Wintec’s City and Rotokauri campuses in Hamilton, the event offers visitors curious about Wintec the chance to experience campus life, explore study options, and connect with staff and students in a fun and informative environment.

Warwick Pitts, Wintec Operations Lead, believes the day is about creating an open and welcoming space for future learners and their whānau.

“Our Open Day events are a fantastic way for people to come onto our campuses, see our facilities, and meet with our amazing academic and support kaimahi [staff],” said Warwick.

“Starting or returning to tertiary study can feel daunting, so we’ve designed this event to give people confidence and peace of mind. It’s a great opportunity for our teams to connect with potential ākonga, share the support we provide, and answer any pātai [questions] they may have.”

Both campuses will be packed with activities for visitors to explore, including guided tours of teaching spaces, specialist facilities, and accommodation, along with opportunities to meet academic staff across a wide range of subject areas.

Free shuttle buses every half hour will connect the City and Rotokauri campuses, making it easy to see both unique environments in one visit.

Student support teams will be on hand to answer pātai, a free sausage sizzle will be running, and take-home goodie bags will be on offer.

The Mai FM team will be at the Rotokauri Campus in the morning, bringing a fun vibe and running competitions.

Visitors will also have the chance to win a $300 prezzie card by scanning QR codes around each campus to enter the draw.

Ngā Rā Tūwhera | Wintec Open Day gives future ākonga and their whānau a first-hand experience of what studying at Wintec is like.

The event also highlights the range of programmes on offer, the facilities available, and the strong support systems Wintec has in place for its ākonga, helping learners take their next step with confidence.
