First year Wintec students launch a bright new publication

Connected Individuals - Wintec students

A bright new publication, Connected Individuals, is being launched by a group of first year Media Arts students.

The 43 communication, fashion and graphic design students have come together to tell each other’s stories through mood boards, stories and photographmagas.

It includes stories such as the 18-year-old from Hamilton who plays American football for the Hamilton Hawks who finished second in the recent Kiwi Bowl tournament, and a young woman who finds peace within her religion.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing the results of the students’ work,” said Media Arts head of school Sam Cunnane. “We’re excited about the way this group of students are working together. This project-based approach mimics the professional worlds they will work in when they graduate, and gives them the opportunity to explore their craft.”

The publication launch will be held in the Media Arts X block gallery, 54 Alexandra Street, on April 23 from 5pm-7pm. Doors open at 5pm with light refreshments provided.

This announcement was co-written by the students in charge of the project.

The 43 students are Paul Raymond Cleland, Jaron Robert Cooper, Laura Drummond, Hannah Ellen, Andy Fisher, Jasmine Gill, Hannah Gunn, Libby Hare, Holly Hickman, Brogan Houghton, Kalae Kora, Jonathan Jensen, Kiran Kuruvilla, Jessica Lawson, Nathaniel Namua, Ella Nicol, Helene Nihotte, Gemma Roberts, Danielle Stieller, Oliver Pan, Callum Rawlings, Mikayla Pihama, Reremoana Rangiuaia, Sarah Turner, Renelia Whitmarsh, Casey Wilkinson, Tara Braken, Lily Brierly, Joey Halbert, Victoria Phok, Jess Turnball, Cam Alchin, Zach Cutler, Tayla Dunnett, Samantha Hine, Jordan Holland, Mathew Johnson, Isla Neil, Leigh Phelan, Juanita Rojas, Aira Savage-Helmbright, Jay Stewart, Orion Wall and Immy Watson.
