This programme will provide you with a broad knowledge of the underpinning Industrial Measurement and Control (IMC) theory, to support safe and effective instrument installation, servicing, calibration and commissioning.

Entry Requirements:

Minimum of 36 credits at NCEA Level 2 including 12 credits in English, 12 credits in mathematics, 12 credits in science or physics, a minimum of 10 Literacy credits at NCEA Level 1 or above (5 credits each in reading and writing), and 10 Numeracy credits at NCEA Level 1 or above; or an electrical or electronics qualification at NZQF Level 2 or above; or New Zealand Certificate in Electrical Engineering Theory and Practice (Trade) (Level 4); or equivalent

Candidates who have English as a second language are required to have an International English Language Test System (IELTS) score of 5.5, with no individual band score lower than 5; or equivalent.

All candidates will be interviewed for suitability for the programme. Should places in the programme become limited, selection will be based on:

  • Academic history;
  • Prior relevant qualifications gained.

Career/further opportunities:

Graduates will be equipped with the underpinning knowledge that will support employment as an entry level technician in the Industrial Measurement and Control field servicing industries such as pulp and paper, dairy, petrochemicals, steel and aluminium, wood products, extractives, food products, energy generation and distribution, water and wastewater, and other utilities.
