Summary
Broaden your applied management expertise with a postgraduate certificate or diploma. This flexible, multi-layered programme is designed to extend, deepen and consolidate your future at the forefront of business and management.
You will gain specialised business knowledge and skills and the ability to apply business knowledge by building on existing qualifications and experience, resulting in a comprehensive understanding, professional competence and leadership skills in modern business and management. Elective courses aim to provide options that complement a range of professional experiences and career aspirations.
With flexible study options, you can study full or part-time, with a blended learning delivery designed to work around your current employment and whānau commitments.
These qualifications are a pathway to our Master of Applied Management programme.
What you will learn
Postgraduate Certificate
Delivered full-time over one semester, with part-time options available, you will study a total of 60 credits that cover:
- critical issues in management
- design thinking and innovative entrepreneurship
- managing a digital world
- leadership and managing talent.
Postgraduate Diploma
Delivered full-time over one year, with part-time options available, you will study a total of 120 credits that cover the above subjects with additional specialisations in:
- business analytics
- healthcare management.

Entry criteria
General admission
Academic entry requirement for the Postgraduate Certificate and Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Management is one of the following:
- an NZQF-listed undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in Business or Management;or
- an undergraduate degree in a related field with a minimum of the equivalent to a B- (B minus) average (as per the EIT-specified 11-point achievement-based grading system), subject to assessment by the programme coordinator; or
- Dean’s discretion, where an applicant’s situation is compelling but not covered by the requirements listed above.
English language requirements
Applicants who have English as a second language are required to have an overall academic International English Language Test System (IELTS) score of 6.5, with no individual band score lower than 6.0 achieved in the last two years; or PTE: (Academic) score of 58 with no band score lower than 50 or NZCEL: Level 5.
