What do you enjoy about teaching/your job?

I love the creative energy when you’re around people honing their craft and that energy abounds in the classroom. Students developing skills, guest speakers sharing insights, and passionate colleagues teaching alongside you all make up an ideal environment for being creative. It’s an environment I feel energised by.

What do you love about your area?

I love finding new stories and telling old ones in new ways. I love what multimedia brings to stories and how it can engage audiences on a range of sensory levels.

I’ve been published by the Spinoff, Waikato Times, Stuff, the New Zealand Herald and Hamilton News. I was also a Voyager Media Awards Finalist for Student Journalist of the Year 2019.

What keeps you busy outside of Media Arts?

I have just started connecting with my marae so this is a getting-to-know-who-I-am project and just being surrounded by my maunga and my awa, the landmarks of my ancestors stirs all kinds of creative juices in me. Learning my whakapapa and spending time with my family keeps me busy outside of Media Arts but they are my number 1 inspiration and motivation. Tihei Mauri ora!
