Wintec is Aotearoa New Zealand's leading training provider in arboriculture. As an arboriculture student, you will work on real projects, go on field trips, carry out pruning and felling operations, use small machinery, plant vegetation, and learn all the rigging and tree climbing skills safely.

Applied Horticultural Services (Level 3) (Arboriculture)

The programme is for those who have some general horticultural experience and/or a desire to work in arboriculture horticultural sector. Students will learn the skills, knowledge and attributes needed to work in horticulture under limited supervision taking responsibility for work outcomes.

This programme teaches advanced technical skills around maintenance and management activities, as well as the skills for supervision and more senior roles. Projects for councils and residents will form part of the teaching, including the felling of large, difficult trees. Students will also be involved in work experience trips to regional councils.

This programme provides further project work for students to advance their skills into more specialised areas, and develop their independent assessment, contractual and research, and process skill. Through work integration, students are able to immerse themselves in the real-life work environment, gaining practical interpersonal skills and mentorship from professionals in industry.
