New Zealand Diploma in Journalism

This programme is a one-year intensive course designed to launch graduates into an exciting career in the media. With an emphasis on news storytelling and writing, students will also master multi-media skills in photography and videography, social media, audience engagement and CMS (Content Management Systems). Publishing regularly, they will build a portfolio from authentic experiences in class and work placements to get the edge in the competitive media job market.

This degree has been designed for students to develop skills to thrive in the media and communications industry. The programme focuses on media communication and marketing craft, along with critical thinking, creative media, content production, and professional practice. Students will have the opportunity to undertake real-world collaborative projects with students from other disciplines, and with industry. The degree has pathways in Creative Media and Digital Marketing. A hybrid Screen Arts and Production pathway is also available.
