3:Describe the structure and the function of animal body systems
4:Discuss homeostatic regulation and responses within an animal
Content
-Structure and function of the cell; as the foundation for all body components, metabolism and support for living creatures.
-Structure and function of animal body systems; to understand what is system is composed of, how it works, and influences on normal functioning and health.
-Homeostasis, homeostatic regulation and response: how all components of the body exist in equilibrium and what happens when any component is abnormal.
-Professional practice attributes: communication skills; accurate record-keeping; compliance with health and safety requirements.
Teaching and Learning Strategy
Learning will be facilitated using a range of teaching and learning methods, which may include:
-Practical - laboratory; practical or workshop sessions and activities; demonstrations
-Theory - includes web-supported tutor facilitated/directed presentations; lectures and tutorials; group activities; peer presentations and review; group/individual research; online learning activities; case studies; guest speakers
