To demonstrate knowledge of preventative health and disease management programs in companion animals, companion animal dentistry and perform basic companion animal dentistry procedures
Students will: be able to develop health programmes for special needs patients; assist with their treatment and monitor their condition; understand the requirements of barrier nursing and isolation in an epidemic situation as well as vaccination programmes and their role in disease control in companion animals. Understand the holistic approach to disease management
Students completing this module will: perform basic veterinary dentistry procedures; have knowledge of common complications, requiring referral of the patient to the veterinarian and the need to consider special precautions in some patients; develop a preventative oral hygiene plan for cats and dogs and be able to set up and maintain common veterinary dentistry equipment.

5.Describe types of common dentistry conditions where special precautions or procedures need to be considered.
6.Demonstrate the setting up of dental equipment and design a maintenance plan.
