This module covers the hairdressing practical capstone assessment to demonstrate the practical skills and work readiness of the student. Students will be required to perform a range of end-to-end services, including reception duties and hairdressing services, to paying clients in Wintec's training salon, Urban Hair.

Learning Outcomes
1. Perform a range of hairdressing services to industry standard.
2. Perform Salon Assistant duties to a professional practice standard.
3. Maintain appropriate standards of personal presentation and professional practice in the
salon environment.
4. Comply with workplace health, safety, hygiene and environmental policies.
Content
- Core professional competencies including retail and customer service; reception duties;
client consultations; retail consultation, sales and displays; industry timings for performing
services; safe industry work practices.

- Core practical competencies including shampoo, condition and scalp treatments; set short
hair for volume; cut hair; hair colouring and treatments; blow drying and styling hair; long hair
ups.

- Professional practice attributes: reliability, punctuality, time management, effective
communication skills (spoken, written and unspoken), personal presentation and self-styling,
interpersonal skills, adaptability, creativity, teamwork.

- Compliance with health, safety, hygiene and environmental policies in the salon
environment.
Teaching and Learning Strategy
This module is comprised of a practical assessment and assesses the accumulated practical, professional and work readiness skills gained across the programme.
Assessment Criteria
Assessment in this module is competency based. To pass this module students must meet all the requirements of the assessment tasks.
