To introduce students to women’s health issues and cultural considerations related to early pregnancy, gynaecology and women’s health screening; and develop skills for physical and psychosocial assessment of the well woman/wahine.

- 1. Examine screening programmes for well and pregnant women/waahine, and the relationship between research, health assessment, screening and practice.
2. Apply culturally responsive knowledge to the physical and psychosocial assessment of the well woman/wahine.
3. Identify historical and contemporary factors that affect Maaori access to maternity care, and have contributed to inequalities and disparities within Maaori health.
4. Examine applications of Te Tiriti o Waitangi in relation to the framework of the midwifery partnership. - Content

- The portfolio is comprised of multiple components.
Students need to provide evidence against all learning outcomes, and gain an overall mark of 50% to pass this module. - Teaching and Learning Strategy
