This module aims to develop critical thinking and reflective practice in relation to creating quality environments for diverse learners. The module aims to explore various perspectives and discourses on quality provision in early childhood education settings. It has a focus on infants, toddlers and children with special needs.

Learning Outcomes
By the end of this module students will be able to:

1. Examine and critique perspectives on the provision and discourse of quality within early
childhood education settings.
2. Articulate what constitutes quality environments, and high quality care, for infants and
toddlers and show an in depth understanding of factors that influence quality, including the
holistic needs, strengths and interests of infants and toddlers.
3. Articulate what constitutes quality environments, and high quality care, for children with
special needs and show an in depth understanding of factors that influence quality,
including the holistic needs, strengths and interests of children with special needs.
4. Analyse and critique the role of management in promoting quality in various early childhood
contexts.
5. Implement and take responsibility for self-review focused on quality provision across a
diversity of learners.
Assessment Criteria
Assessment in this module is achievement based. Students will be required to achieve a result of 40 or better in each of the assessment tasks. The overall mark to pass the module must be 50 or better.
