Students will explore the features of the video editing software. Students will design and create a digital story and present it at the conclusion of the module. Students will document their learning in an online journal. Theories and principles of digital storytelling will be researched and presented in an essay.

1. The key features of digital storytelling are demonstrated in relation to effective development of multimedia presentation.
2. A conceptual framework is developed for using digital storytelling in the classroom.
Explore the ways in which digital storytelling can be used in classrooms to enhance teaching and learning
3. current writing and research concerning digital storytelling in education is summarised and critiqued in relation to current classroom practice.
4. The pedagogical promise of digital storytelling used in the classroom is analysed and linked to effective classroom practice.
5. Practical methods will be explored for integrating digital storytelling into classroom programmes.
Content
Fully explore the features of the generic multimedia software utilising a ‘hands on’ approach

Using a variety of learning strategies (demonstration, individual and small group work, lections, reading and research) students will develop competency in all the main features of the generic presentation software package.

Students will explore a range of skills using Video Software, fore example:
? Capturing images
? Using a scanner
? Recording sound

Develop the necessary skills to enable students to apply multimedia software skills to develop curriculum documents, teaching materials and record keeping documents in an education environment

This will be achieved through a range of activities, for example:
? Creating a personal digital story
? Creating a classroom resource

Develop the necessary skills to enable students to apply software to the develop of a range of classroom activities suitable to class level and curriculum needs

This will be achieved through a range of activities – for example, digital storytelling to record the learning achieved in a unit of learning.
