Prescription
This module aims to develop writing skills to meet applied needs of students at a CEFR low B2 level. They will begin to write clear, connected texts on a variety of subjects related to the applied contexts. The student will be able to use a range of linking words effectively to show clearly the relationship between ideas.

Learning Outcomes
Write a short text under test conditions in English for an employment purpose.
Write a short crafted text for a specified audience using resource material in English for an employment purpose
Write using connected paragraphs to describe a sequence of events or compare information.
Content
Mechanics
-punctuation in formal and informal texts including dashes, brackets, bullet points and speech marks
-spelling for employment contexts
-basic grammatical structures, including conjunctions, connectives and discourse markers.
-recognised citation application and referencing conventions in written work.

-vocabulary (including relevant technical vocabulary) suitable for purpose
-a range of complex structures
-register effective and appropriate to employment purpose.

-a range of cohesive devices to link and organise ideas
-text organisation to effectively reflect the structure of the ideas expressed.

Assessment Criteria
The portfolio is comprised of multiple assessment tasks, not tests alone. To pass this module, students must attempt and pass all summative assessment tasks
