On successful completion of this course students will be able to:
LO1: Respond appropriately to an oral monologue on reasonably familiar topics relevant to the applied context.
LO2: Present factual information orally on reasonably familiar topics relevant to the applied context.

• Describing people and asking personal questions
• Discussion skills – giving opinions, agreeing and disagreeing, making suggestions
• Listening for main and specific ideas
• Listening and note-taking in lectures
• Talking about life experiences and travel
• Discussion skills – stating advantages and disadvantages
• Following an interview
• Following a monologue/presentation
• Taking part in an interview
• Framing questions and answers
• Identifying different speakers and opinions on the same topic
• Listening for intonation
• Holding a debate
• Accepting and rejecting ideas, considering consequences
• Listening for topic/section changes in an interview
• Comparing things
• Coming to an agreement
• Completing notes, predicting content
• Following markers in a presentation

Assessment Criteria
In order to pass a course, students must:
