The aim of this module is to further develop student's knowledge of landscape design practice, enhancing skills in the site analysis, design process, presentation and communication of landscape designs.

Learning Outcomes
Use a sound method of analysing site and client to develop a principled design to specified requirements, for residential sites.
Demonstrate competence in site surveying using a range of technologies to measure up a site, and create useable height references for cut and fill design analysis.
Use effective communication skills to explain and specify designs through written and verbal presentation, and respond to feedback.
Undertake the landscape design process in a timely manner, to industry norms, for residential landscape sites.
Content
-Review of previous design projects, and processes
-Landscape design process
-Complexities of site; rural, contoured, large scale.
-Spatial design within complex sites, i.e. large scale residential, rural, contoured sites
-Use of Landform, water, space i.e. voids as design elements
-Creating movement and influencing direction, through shapes, materials, spaces, line, shape, form, texture
-Use of pattern, variety, emphasis, sequence, and rhythm
-Working to budgets, knowledge of 'rates' of materials and structures in landscape
-Communication techniques
-Dealing with critique and disappointment
-Working to industry timeframes.
Teaching and Learning Strategy
Teaching and learning methods will be face to face delivery including; workshops, project-based interactive tasks, with group sessions, tutorials, on-line learning, work integration, and independent research for the creation of portfolios of evidence of learning.
Assessment Criteria
Portfolio of Evidence100
The weight of the overall assessment is equally distributed across learning outcomes.
The portfolio of evidence will demonstrate the achievement of the required knowledge, competencies and capabilities across all the learning outcomes.
Assessment is achievement based. Students need to attempt all elements of the assessment and gain at least 50 in each element of the portfolio to gain an overall pass in this module
