To enable the student to successfully work with a range of electronic test equipment to test electronic instrumentation equipment and systems to determine the characteristics of electronic components and circuits in their instrumentation applications.

- 1:Correctly use appropriate electrostatic damage (ESD) avoidance equipment when handling and testing electronic components and equipment
2:Demonstrate correct soldering and desoldering techniques on electronic components and printed circuit boards
3:Select suitable battery chargers and load testers and carry out condition tests on a range of batteries used in instrumentation equipment
4:Investigate the behaviour of analogue electronic components such as op-amps, transistors, opto-couplers and diodes used in instrumentation systems such as input/output modules, instrument amplifiers and power supplies, using appropriate test equipment
5:Investigate the behaviour and applications of digital electronics components used in instrumentation systems, using appropriate test equipment - Content
