-Pest damage signs and symptoms; chewing mouthparts, sap-sucking mouthparts, rasping mouthparts
-Fungal pathogen sign and symptom effects on plant growth; botrytis, downy mildew, leaf spot, powdery mildew, rusts, sclerotinia, phytophthora
-Fungal diseases; botrytis, downy mildew, leaf spot, powdery mildew, rusts, sclerotinia, phytophthora
-Bacterial damage symptom effects on plant growth; cankers, galls, fireblight
-Nematode damage effect on plant growth; leaf blotches, leaf distortions, lesions, root knots
-Viral disease symptom effects on plant growth; stunting, distortion, leaf bunching, mosaic mottling, chlorotic patterns, leaf and flower streaking, vein clearings, ring spot
-Physiological disorder symptom effects on plant growth; leach scorch, distortion, discolouring, stunting, hormone damage, senescence, frost damage
-Pest and pathogen lifecyle control opportunities
-Relationship between disease pathogen, host and environmental conditions, and control opportunities
-Pest, disease, and disorder control measures; mechanical; screens/barriers, temperature, humidity, ventilation, watering methods
-Biological and integrated pest management options
Teaching and Learning Strategy
Theoretical face-to-face and online sessions including workbooks, lectures, workshops, group practical activities, discussion, independent learning, and assignments centred on project based learning.

Assessment in this module is competency-based. In order to pass this module, students must attempt and meet all the requirements of the competency-based assessments including carrying out all tasks in a safe manner and to industry standard.
