The aim of this module is to develop student's knowledge and skills in the maintenance of landscape elements and gardens, and in installing a basic garden irrigation system under guidance and supervision.

Learning Outcomes
Identify, record and carry out maintenance and repair work for landscape elements and surfaces.
Carry out and record basic landscape garden maintenance to a commercially acceptable standard within acceptable timeframes.
Identify elements of, and take part in the installation of a basic landscape 'spray' irrigation system, as an effective team member.
Carry out basic landscape maintenance checks and alterations on basic garden irrigation systems.
Content
-Maintaining elements and surfaces; timber furniture treatment, paving moss, broken pavers replacement, maintenance of drainage; catch-pit clearance.
- Common garden weed identification, and control by hand.
-Garden Maintenance; staking, pruning for shape and health.
-Irrigation; flow rates, coverage areas, nozzle coverage, plant requirements, sketching layouts.
-Irrigation installation, set-out as per plan and specification, installation.
-Maintenance of irrigation; blocked nozzles, broken line and nozzle repairs, adding/changing zones.
-Team work, communications, safe work place practices.
Teaching and Learning Strategy
Teaching and learning methods will be face to face delivery including workshops, project based interactive tasks, with group sessions, tutorials, and creation of portfolios of evidence.

Portfolio of Evidence 100
The weight of the overall assessment is equally distributed across learning outcomes.
The portfolio of evidence will demonstrate the achievement of the required knowledge, competencies and capabilities across all the learning outcomes.
