The aim of this module is to develop student's knowledge of common garden plants, trees, and lawn types, and their skill in correct planting techniques, and in laying of lawns under supervision.

- Identify common trees and shrubs for landscape work.
Work as a team member and individually using effective communication skills and interactions with others to demonstrate correct planting techniques for plants and trees in landscape work.
Identify types of lawn species and how each is applied to landscaping, and lay lawns for landscape work.
Implement a landscape design using appropriate soft landscaping techniques to a commercial standard. - Content
- -Plant ID; 50 ornamental and native common garden plants (15 trees, 35 shrubs).
-Plant techniques; selection, placement, spacing, hole size, planting, staking, tying, perennials, shrubs, trees, watering in, fertilizing, composting and mulching.
-Lawns; types of common garden lawns; fine fescue, tall fescue, rye.
-Lawn laying; set out as per plan and specifications, edging, ground preparation, soil tilling, levelling, fertiliser, sowing (by hand) finishing, laying turf (ready lawn), finishing.
-Team work, communications, reporting and recording, safe workplace practices. - Teaching and Learning Strategy
- Teaching and learning methods will be face to face delivery including workshops and project based interactive tasks, with group sessions, tutorials, and creation of portfolios of evidence.

The weight of the overall assessment is equally distributed across learning outcomes.
