- Identify and select suitable timber for landscape work.
Use hand and portable power tools in landscape timber work effectively and in a safe manner.
Work as an effective team member and individually to build timber features in landscape work under direction and supervision.
Demonstrate sustainable practices in undertaking the routine tasks related to implementation of a landscape design. - Content
- -Timber selection; grading, hazard classes, types of timbers, joint types, fixings, quantification from plans.
-Sustainable options and practices.
-Competent use of tools with a range of common hand tools and landscape power tools.
-Safety checks and basic maintenance checks of hand and power tools.
-Tools required to complete simple timber projects.
-Building structure; location on site from plans, plans and specifications, measurement of timber.
-Simple landscape structure; i.e. deck, boardwalk, pergola, fence.
-Communications, recording and reporting, teamwork, safe workplace practices. - Teaching and Learning Strategy
- Teaching and learning methods will be face to face delivery including workshops and project based interactive tasks, with group sessions, tutorials, and creation of portfolios of evidence.
