To develop and apply knowledge of the science of plant growth for horticultural services within the amenity, arboriculture and landscape construction sectors.
Learning Outcomes
1:Demonstrate knowledge of plant structures and their functions, and the use of plant structures for plant identification.
2:Describe plant tissues and their functions.
3:Demonstrate knowledge of plant processes.
4:Describe how environmental factors affect plant processes.
5:Demonstrate knowledge of plant lifecycles.
6:Use correct nomenclature for naming plants.
Teaching and Learning Strategy
Teaching and learning methods will be face to face delivery including workshops, project based interactive tasks, with group sessions, tutorials, practicals on-site, and creation of portfolios of evidence.
Assessment Criteria
The weight of the overall assessment is equally distributed across learning outcomes.
The portfolio of evidence will demonstrate the achievement of the required knowledge, competencies and capabilities across all the learning outcomes.
