This module covers the hairdressing practical capstone assessment to demonstrate the practical skills and work readiness of the student. Students will be required to perform a range of end-to-end services to industry standards and timeframes, including reception duties, hairdressing services, retail sales, re-booking to paying clients in Wintec's training salon, Urban Hair.

Perform a range of hairdressing services to industry standard.
Perform emerging stylist duties to a professional practice standard.

Content
-Core professional competencies including retail and customer service; reception duties; client consultations; retail consultation, sales and displays; industry timings for performing services; safe industry work practices.
-Core practical competencies including shampoo, condition and scalp treatments; blow waving; finger waving; setting; long hair ups; scissor and razor cutting services; colouring
-Professional practice attributes: reliability, punctuality, time management, effective communication skills (spoken, written and unspoken), personal presentation and self-styling, interpersonal skills, adaptability, creativity, teamwork.
-Compliance with health, safety, hygiene and environmental policies in the salon environment.
-Perform client consultations, including hair and scalp analysis in relation to chemical
services
-Recommend home hair care products to meet a range of client needs
-Ensure own actions impact positively on the profitability of a salon
Teaching and Learning Strategy
Practical, theoretical, face to face, and E-learning including; lectures, tutorials, discussion, group activities, self-directed learning, practical workshops in training salons, inquiry-based learning, and project-based learning.
Assessment Criteria
Assessment in this module is mixed mode. To pass this module all assessments must be submitted and an overall pass mark of 50 is required. Students must also meet all the requirements of the competency-based assessment tasks. The final grade will be based on the marks from the achievement-based tasks.

An extended reading list will be supplied by the tutor at commencement of the module. This will be updated annually.
