The aim of this course is to develop knowledge and skills relevant to a range of procedures, types of contracts, methodologies and processes for the procurement of building projects.

Content
- Types of contracts and selection of tender methodology: overview of contract types and tender methods – lump sum, fluctuating, fixed price, cost reimbursement, two stage tendering, target cost, design and build, guaranteed maximum price, open, selected, public private partnership.
- Methodology selection – format, timing, registration of interest, distribution, people involved in tender preparation, conditions of contract.
- Selection meets enterprise/client values, objectives, strategic vision.
- Purpose and function of tender methods: pre-registration, sole source, invited and public tenders.
- Key requirements of documentation assembly in terms of application for the tender process.
- Tender evaluation: Process and requirements; evaluating tenders in accordance with contract documentation.
- Post-tender administration process.
- Analysis and ranking of a tender: evaluation of subcontractors – industry criteria and quotations.
- Coordination of components – response methods, construction methodology, health and safety plan, quality assurance plan, construction programme, budget, consultants, subcontracts.
- Notification and process for unsuccessful tenders: return of tender deposit and documentation, stakeholder notification including subcontractors and suppliers.
- Debrief and evaluation.

Assessment Criteria
Assessment in this course employs an achievement-based grading scheme. Aakonga will be advised of all matters relating to summative assessment prior to the start of the course.
