Describe ethical and legal considerations for plumbing, gasfitting, and drainlaying services. Describe the regulatory framework for plumbing, gasfitting, and drainlaying. Identify hazards and control measures in confined spaces when carrying out plumbing, gasfitting, and drainlaying tasks. Draw and form simple patterns for plumbing or gasfitting sheet metal components. Demonstrate the selection, use and maintenance of hand and power tools for work on plumbing or drainlaying jobs.
Content
The ethical and legal responsibilities in relation to plumbing, gasfitting, or drainlaying services. Ethics and ethical behaviour in and around customers’ properties, and on-site customer communication and interaction. Personal presentation, and behaviours that may lead to disciplinary action, health and safety obligations, and workplace practice in terms of workplace requirements. The roles and inter relationships of key stakeholders in the regulatory environment for the plumbing, gasfitting, and drainlaying sector. Key stakeholders in the regulatory environment, Acts, Regulations, Codes. Plumbers, Gasfitters and Drainlayers Board, classes of licenses. Description of confined space, permits, notification of associated work, supporting documents and system supports. Atmospheric hazards, other hazards, hazard identification and risk assessment. Communication channels, continuous visual monitoring, audio monitoring, testing requirements. Responsibilities and duties, record keeping and document control. Component dimensions, geometric information. Parallel line development, radial development, angled cut patterns. Three- dimensional sheet metal components. Hand tools (selecting, describing, using, maintaining). Portable power tools (selecting, describing, using, maintaining).
Assessment Criteria
Assessment in this module is competency-based. In order to pass this module students must attempt and meet all the requirements of the competency-based assessments including carrying out all tasks in a safe manner and to industry standard
