On completion of this course the student will be able to:

1Describe the Resource Management Act (1991), its structure, purpose and key principles and explain the types of resource consents that must be applied for, their duties and restrictions.
2Use landscape assessment and evaluation techniques with relation to the RMA.
3Demonstrate a wide range of design solving process's applied to specific land use categories using principles of sustainability in landscape design.
4Describe and apply ecological principles to landscape design.
5Describe the Resource Management Act (1991), its structure, purpose and key principles
6Explore Under the RMA, explain the types of resource consents that must be applied for, their duties and restrictions.
7Explore the principles of Sustainability in landscape design

Teaching and Learning Strategy
Teaching and learning methods will include theory classes, tutorial sessions, practical sessions, group projects, written assignments, oral & practical and written tests.
Assessment Criteria
Students must attempt all assessments and Students need to attain a mark of 50 or above in their overall grade to obtain a pass this course.
