Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course the student will be able to:

1Identify and describe the features and landscape uses of a range of plants, describing the climatic, environmental and cultural (care) requirements of those identified plants.

2Identify resources useful for selecting and sourcing plants.

Content
Identification, features, adaptations and care requirements for at least 375 plants looking at 15 plants per week over 25 week period, including;
60 x Natives
45 x Trees for streets, screening, shelter, features, parks, small gardens, pleaching, bollarding, espaliering
40 x Fruit Trees and edibles
45 x Filler shrubs for seasonal effects and certain colour combinations
45 x Perennials, Annuals, and Bulbs for seasonal effects, colour and picking
30 x Ground covers
15 x Climbers
30 x Sculptural / Focal plants
15 x Potted plants
20 x Hedging trees and plants
30 x Gully and Wetland plants

Landscape styles and effects requiring suitable plants.
Sourcing plants.
Teaching and Learning Strategy
Teaching and learning methods will include theory classes, tutorial sessions, practical sessions, group projects, written assignments, oral & practical and written tests.
Assessment Criteria
Students must attempt and complete all assignments.

Students should attain a mark of 50 or above in their overall grade to obtain a pass.
