SPPG003
Module title
Advanced Topics In Biomechanics
Prescription
The purpose of this module is to provide the student with experience in the application of biomechanics in a small-scale project, and its relationship to sport. An emphasis is placed upon biomechanics research, the use of technology in research, and a clinical consultative approach to the application of biomechanics to exercise and sport.

Learning Outcomes
1. Apply highly specialised skills in the use of data collection, reduction and analysis in biomechanics research.
2. Investigate and apply theoretical and experimental approaches of biomechanics to solve problems.
3. Critically evaluate the roles of theoretical and experimental sports biomechanics in research.
4. Investigate the biomechanical bases of common sports injuries and formulate prevention and/or reduction strategies in this area.
5. Critically evaluate the current scope of practice in biomechanics in New Zealand and extend practice knowledge in this area.
