Learning Outcomes
1. Critically analyse and apply a range of social work theories and models, including kaupapa Maaori, global, local and indigenous theoretical perspectives, to complex practice scenarios.
2. Critically examine the dynamics of risk and safety as applied to a range of practice situations, including different cultural contexts.
3. Apply social work skills and documentation processes in a range of contexts
4. Lead and facilitate group processes in a variety of practice contexts
5. Use critical reflection skills to evaluate and enhance own and others' developing practice.

Content
- Kaupapa Maaori practice theories and approaches. Social work theories, models and perspectives (global, local, indigenous)
- Dynamics of working with mandated clients
- Dynamics of working with loss and grief
- Cross cultural practice considerations, including Pasifika, refugee and migrant communities
- Complex ethical considerations and dilemmas
- Social work skills for working with individuals, family/whaanau and groups drawing on theories and models covered in this and previous modules.
- Documentation skills for a range of contexts
- Application of theory and cultural knowledge in facilitating a variety of group processes in a social work context
- Theory and application of reflective practice frameworks
Teaching and Learning Strategy
May include: Project-based Learning; Flipped Classroom; Blended Learning; Work-Integrated Learning; Inclusive Practices.
Methods may include workshops and practical classes, tutorials, case-based learning, inquiry-based learning, group activities & discussion, supported online learning, e-portfolio, practice simulation.

An extended reading list will be supplied by the tutor at commencement of the course. This will be updated annually.
Assessment Criteria
The portfolio is comprised of multiple components.
Students need to provide evidence against all learning outcomes, and gain an overall mark of 50% to pass this module.
