- 1. Have an appreciation of the diverse nature of data in the business environment; be
familiar with the scientific approach to information provision in business; be able to apply
mathematical techniques including basic algebra to business data
2. Will be able to: collect data using statistical sampling methods; organise, analyse and
summarise data from a variety of business sources using computer based statistical
packages; interpret and report on findings in a manner which would be useful to people
with and without significant statistical knowledge
3. Be able to examine, calculate and report on quantitative changes, patterns and
relationships in business data using the tools of index numbers, time series and correlation
and regression
4. Be able to analyse, make decisions and report on these decisions in a business
environment, where uncertainty is the norm, using the tools of probability models and

- Teaching will involve blended delivery methods incorporating the Moodle online delivery platform. Other delivery methods my involve theoretical and practical classes, face to face, lectures, tutorials, workshops, group activities, guest tutors, field trips, role-play, and video conferencing, as appropriate.
- Assessment Criteria
- Candidates must achieve a minimum result of 40 in the final examination of this module. They must also achieve a minimum C grade pass overall from all assessments to receive a passing grade for the module.
