- 1.Select mechanical engineering manufacturing processes for products.
2.Select equipment and tooling to support mechanical engineering manufacturing processes.
3.Articulate the importance of quality control.
4.Apply knowledge of inventory control, scheduling and queuing and simulation of the manufacturing environment.
5.Analyse an existing manufacturing process.
- Principles of hazard identification and safety in the workplace.
Metal cutting - machine tools, turning, milling, grinding, EDM.
Casting - basic processes, sand, shell, die, and centrifugal.
Metal working - hot and cold working, rolling, forging, and presswork.
Extrusion - forward, reverse and impact.
Fabrication - welding, cutting, soldering and adhesive joining.
Surface finishing - painting, polishing and plating.
