Prescription
To develop students’ knowledge of solo and ensemble repertoire from contemporary musical theatre contexts. The course will cover a range of performance skills, including singing, dancing, and acting, required to present this repertoire in a stylistically appropriate manner.

Blended – methods will involve online activities, portfolio, tutorials, lectures, workshops, group activities, guest speakers, field trips, critiques, collaborative projects, as appropriate

2. Analyse codes and conventions of contemporary musical theatre repertoires
3. Participate in independent and self-directed work as part of an ensemble team

• Contemporary musical theatre history and relationship to popular music
• Stylistically informed singing techniques
• Choreography and blocking skills
• Solo and ensemble performance techniques
• Song analysis
Assessment Criteria
The portfolio comprises multiple components. Students must complete all assessments and gain an overall mark of 50% in order to pass this module.
