This module aims to develop speaking skills required to use language for communication in an applied context at a CEFR low B2 level. This will enable students to communicate with some confidence in reasonably familiar situations. Students will be able to express thoughts and ideas on more abstract, cultural topics.

Learning Outcomes
Participate in less routine social conversations for everyday purposes.
Exchange detailed information one-on-one and/or in small group discussions or meetings.
Deliver a short oral presentation in English for an academic purpose.

Key approaches to instruction include selection of authentic and semi-authentic language models; clear contextualisation and effective presentation of new language; varied interaction – individual, pair, group, whole-class activities; information-gap activities; task-based activities; integration of skills; focus on accuracy and fluency; effective treatment of errors; valid and reliable assessment; integration of current technologies
Assessment Criteria
The portfolio is comprised of multiple assessment tasks, not tests alone. To pass this module, students must attempt and pass all summative assessment tasks
