1. Critically reflect on the positioning of physiotherapy in contemporary hauora settings.
2. Critically examine management and leadership roles in healthcare clinical practice and reflect on own practice in these contexts.
3. Examine a clinical service using a quality assurance process.
4. Explain professional and interprofessional practice relevant for an entry-level physiotherapist in Aotearoa New Zealand.
5. Communicate in an effective manner to facilitate successful transition into the physiotherapy workforce.
Content
Becoming practice ready to work in a hauora setting and working with Maaori and Pasifika in a primary healthcare setting
Understand the quality assurance process in clinical practice
How to design and conduct a clinical audit
Issues, policies and procedures relevant to physiotherapy practice management in both the private and public sectors, including accreditation of services
Advanced professional issues, including government legislation, medico-legal and professional code of conduct
Leadership and Management including leadership styles and workplace culture
Change management
Ongoing professional and personal development, peer review, self-reflection and evidence portfolios
How to successfully enter the workforce
Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) and private health insurance
Knowledge and skills for private practice
How to apply for a job, preparing a resume (CV), addressing selection criteria in the job description
Career planning, searching for a job, writing resumes and cover letters
Success at Interview
Ongoing Professional Competence and continuing professional development (CPD) requirements in New Zealand, professional development plans, peer review, goal setting

Registration standards and requirements of registration with Physiotherapy Board of New Zealand
Assessment Criteria
The portfolio is comprised of multiple components.
Students need to provide evidence against all learning outcomes, and gain an overall mark of 50% to pass this module.
