Assessment Criteria
The portfolio is comprised of multiple components.
Students need to provide evidence against all learning outcomes, and gain an overall mark of 50% to pass this module.
Students must meet all the clinical requirements, including evidence of a minimum of 70 hours clinical placement to be eligible to pass this module.
Learning Outcomes
1. Apply midwifery knowledge to the mother and baby dyad.
2. Demonstrate understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the puerperium, lactation and the newborn.
3. Demonstrate knowledge and skills related to the facilitation, initiation and establishment of breastfeeding, including any challenges.
4. Apply understanding of normal expectations of newborn growth and development up to 6 weeks of age.
5. Demonstrate partnership with the woman/wahine and her whaanau applying the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, Turanga Kaupapa and cultural responsiveness.

- Clinical placement (70 hours)
