Content
-Common constituents of soil-less media and their effects on physical properties; 8 types of media
-Purpose of common fertiliser and additives in soil-less media
-Desired physical, chemical and biological properties of soil-less media and how constituents used can achieve these.
-Characteristics of at least 5 types of media
-Limitations of soil-less media for a particular use; 3 limitations
-Potential sources of growing media contamination at preparation, mixing, storage, and movement stages; avoidance and control
-Soil-less media requirements for a range of plants; 5 different nursery crops, and 3 different types of soil-less media
-Mixing soil-less media for 2 uses
-Use of correct required PPE, Legionella bacteria.
-Selection and measuring quantities consistent with media use and workplace procedure recipe
-Mixing for even distribution; hand mixing, mechanical media mixer, front-end loader
-Use of contamination prevention measures; preparing, storing and moving.
