- Explain the concepts and principles underpinning excavation, trenching, and backfilling for plumbing and drainlaying, including notification requirements and collapse control. Describe wet and dry inspection chambers Demonstrate installation of inspection chambers for drainlaying work
- Content
- Explain: i. how to determine the position of the excavation or trench and allow for other services, ii. collapse control in respect of excavations, iii. excavation dewatering, iv. notification requirements and procedures for excavation and trenching, v. the concepts and principles underpinning excavation, trenching, and backfilling for plumbing and drainlaying. b. Excavate and trench for plumbing, gasfitting or drainlaying: i. determine the lines and levels ii. determine the position of the excavation or trench, iii. excavate to a stable sub-base, iv. carry out backfilling and clear the site. Drain access chambers, jointing pipework. Wet and dry inspection chambers, soundness tests, protection. Inspection chambers, installation of channel, invert level, jointing pipework, lid and adjustment rings.

- Assessment in this module is competency-based. In order to pass this module students must attempt and meet all the requirements of the competency-based assessments including carrying out all tasks in a safe manner and to industry standard.
