I am Karmin Nrupesh Dave. I am from India and I want to actively participate in projects and initiatives in life that have a long-lasting positive impact on the community, environment and my family. I arrived in New Zealand in July, 2019. I studied the Master of Applied Information Technology (Level 9) at Wintec, which is one of the oldest tertiary education providers in New Zealand. It fosters a supportive environment for its students and enables them to access quality study resources, technology and hands-on experience that can help them to progress their careers. Its exceptionally well-maintained campuses, experienced tutors and interactive learning approaches add to the overall learning experience.
New Zealand offers a warm, friendly culture that instantly makes you feel welcomed and respected. Their positive can-do attitude, blended with a relaxed lifestyle, are perfect for an effective work-life balance. Māori culture, rich heritage, values, and principles, add a unique sense of connection to nature. At the centre of the North Island, Hamilton opens up a unique opportunity to live in a safe and positive environment while being near amazing tourist locations and sites of cultural heritage. The inland port and rapidly developing industrialisation of Hamilton enable students to work while they study and then transition into a full-time employment without needing to relocate.
In my opinion, the Information Technology sector in New Zealand is rapidly expanding with new opportunities. With the introduction of new Data Centres from Microsoft and increased investments in the green energy, artificial intelligence and Cyber Security domains, the job market is quite welcoming for professionals of all expertise.
While studying at Wintec, I had the opportunity to work part-time in the Information Technology department for about 1.5 years, and was later promoted to a full-time IT Service Engineer. After almost 3 years of working here at Wintec, I received significant guidance and support from management and employees to transition from Service Management to Business Analyst. Since 2019, I have worked within tertiary education, health and telecommunications sectors and genuinely believe that it would not be possible without the education, motivation and support from my Wintec tutors, colleagues and friends.
